Top Ten Wins & Fails of 2010

2010 was a great year for some, and horrible for others. Epic Funnys takes a look at at the moments that made us laugh, and the moments that made us go “Holy crap, WTF just happened?”.
10. LADY GAGA
WIN - Lady Gaga continued to somehow be popular in social media culture. It’s not really a win for us, more like a win for her, her fans, and her bank account. Her “casual” wear sure did get crazier in 2010, and we can’t wait too see what she’s gonna wear in 2011.

FAIL – Fail is what happens when Lady Gaga tries to be “a serious artist concerned about serious political issues, srsly!”. Her speech at the “Repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ in Portland, Maine on 9/20/10″ was a serious fail of epic proportions!
09. ZOMBIES
WIN - 2010 brought us AMC’s “The Walking Dead”. The trailer on youtube caused massive hype and the season opener, which premiered on 10/31/2010, did not dissapoint one bit.
FAIL - 2010 brought us “George Romero’s Survival of the Dead”. Yes, the godfather of the modern day zombie is continuing to write, produce, and direct zombie films, but unfortunately the projects are not as awesome as AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.
08. The News Media
WIN - Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert”. Both shows remained on the top of their game and pushed the envelope further!
| The Daily Show With Jon Stewart | Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c | |||
| The Hurt Talker | ||||
|
||||
FAIL – was every major news network! CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and CBS!
05. Obama
WIN - 2010 marked a year of massive legislation on capitol hill. Obama’s poll numbers in 2010 kind of sucked at times, but he kept his head held high. Despite the Republican victory at taking back a Congressional majority in the November elections; Obama was still able too pass legislation such as repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” which happened during what was suppose to be a lame duck session.
FAIL – Obama has still not legalized marijuana!… C’mon Barry, get a move on it, PUFF PUFF PASS!!!

04. Gay People
WIN - Gay people are now allowed to serve openly in the military

FAIL – Gay people still cannot marry.
03. Tiger Woods
WIN - All the crap people threw at Tiger this year! Tiger was caught cheating on his wife, by his wife, in November of 09, however all new drama unfolded for Tiger in 2010. Tiger’s scandal was parodied from everyone in popular social media.
FAIL – was Tiger’s golf career. He tried to make a comeback, but his reputation was too ruined. I mean, sure, there was interest in his first few comeback games, but sadly Tiger is done for.
02. Animated TV Shows
WIN - was Adult Swim’s Boondocks, Robot Chicken, Mary Shelly’s Frankenhole and Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans.
FAIL – was Adult Swim’s Family Guy, Metalocalypse, and Comedy Central’s South Park. Family Guy and South Park are both dissapointing in the sence that in 2010 they really did not bring anything new to the table, although the animation on South Park has gotten extremely better, the only thing that kept South Park midly interesting this year was the “Coon and Friends/Who is Mysterion?” three part episode in which we discover a new super -hero that goes by the name of “Mintberry Crunch”. Yes, that was classic and South Park needs to do more of that in 2011!
01. Internet Celebrities
WIN - 2010 was the year of a young unknown african american gay male from Huntsville, Alabama: Antoine Dodson! Dodson came on the scene in October 2010. Since his viral video explosion he now has his own website, merchandise line, halloween costume, is the spokes person for a “sexual predator tracker” mobile app, and he has a facebook fan page administered by Dodson, himself!
Some think he’s only a “15 minutes of fame” kind of a person, but that number is few. The majority really love Dodson. He is the kind of guy who would seem like a life long friend. He was originally the victim of burglary and his sister was almost raped, but that bad incident somehow turned positive for Dodson and his family. The only thing they don’t have now is a animated tv show! Dodson has relished humbly with his new found exposure, it would be unwise to call it success, that credit belongs to the Gregory Brothers; the youtube members who created the mania! We doubt Dodson is seriously rich now, but his fame certainly did help Dodson and his family get out of the ghetto they were living when they were victimized. We hope too see Dodson continue to have great support from his fans and positive press during 2011!
FAIL – was Jessie Slaughter. It was a win for parodist and anyone who saw the trainwreck, but it was a fail for Slaughter and her family; but hey, this is what happens when you leave a foul mouthed 11 year old unsupervised with the internet!
Jessie Slaughter’s “You Dun Goofed” video hit the web during the 2nd weekend of July 2010 accumilating over one million veiws within 2 days. A victim of karma, Slaughter too set off a chain reaction; however, unlike Antoine Dodson, her presence was not well recieved. Slaughter only had a mere 15 minutes of fame, however her life was the biggest fail of 2010!
